In this one-week beginners art course for adults.
you will be helped to gain confidence and
enjoyment in using a variety of materials in both
drawing and painting techniques. There will be
opportunities to draw and paint en plein air
in some of the loveliest scenery in France. By the end of your stay, you will have created a unique memento of your time spent in this beautiful and picturesque part of Provence. |

The course is being kept small so that you can obtain maximum benefit from the tuition. There will be places for four adults and will be run on the following dates: |

We will be based in a beautiful home in the idyllic
hilltop village of La Garde Freinet nestled in the
Maures Mountains in the Var region of Provence.
The village is also referred to as “une ile en foret”
and your drive to it will be along winding roads
through vinyards, lavender fields, corkoak forests
and chesnut groves (a local speciality). Its sentry
position at the top of the old mountain pass gained
the ancient Provencal villager name of “guard”
whence came the name of La Garde Freinet and
the villagers - the Fraxinois were commonly called
Gardois from the provencal word “Gardeu”.
At the top of the village are the ruins of an 11th
Century Saracen fort from which there are
panoramic views over the hills and plains to the
snow-capped Alps in one direction and the sea in
the other direction.
